Just updated to 3.5 software and have Loran #s that are 6 digits starting with 41 & 27. My HDS wants 7 digits. When I give it only 6 digits and leave the 7th at what it is, I am not getting close to known locations. Any ideas?:help:

I will have to take a close look at mine. I had a tough time figuring it out and getting the correct station.

Thanks-Any help will be apprciated. Just recieved the LSS-1 and am installing it now. The Loran numbers I have are all (example) 41746.1 - 27095.4 - 6 numbers.
When I convert them to known locations they are off by aprox 1/4 mile???
I am hoping to get as close as I can then find the structure with the LSS-1.

that mite b as good as u're going 2 get w/the conversion as it is done by software and is not a straight conversion. I have my hds showing the 9960 chain on the screen but haven't compared it to what my sitex is showing.

Thanks-I will see how close they are when the weather gets warmer.

We use the extra decimal place in our phantom Loran hence 7 digits instead of 6. Some loran units used to save data in the 7 digit format. The user should be able to enter 12345.6 as 12345.60 and get the same result. The key to using phantom loran is to select the correct GRI setting for your region. One note: All phantom loran is done by using a mathematical algorithm to obtain the best calculation or estimate of the loran TD in Lat/Long.
