Here are the results of the Northern Neck Anglers Club Fall Grab Bag Tournament (all were 1st place winners):

Bluefish: Matt Bruington, Moseley, Va. - 5lbs. 2ozs.

Croaker: Emmett Boyd, Charlestown, WV - 2lbs. 5ozs.

Spanish Mackerel: Mark Tumlin, Mechanicsville, Va. 2lbs. 4ozs.

Spot - Liz Gantnier: Ijamsville, Md. 2ozs.

Rockfish: No entries reported.

Flounder: No entries reported.

Congratulations to the winners.

Home ports were Lewisetta and Locklies who we thank for their cooperation. There was no winner for the Locklies special award.

Sponsors were Boat U.S. and West Marine in Deltaville. Winners will receive gift cards from these stores. We thank Boat U.S. and West Marine for their outstanding generosity for having the "Fleet Weekend" discounts and for sponsoring the tournament.

The next tournament is the Striper Challenge on Sat. Oct. 22nd.

Did someone really turn in a 2 oz spot or are you missing the #'s in front of that 2[grin]

Pepsi, it's the truth. Not only that but the previous tournament had a 2oz. spot winner as well. There were bigger spot caught during both tournaments as I learned from some of the other members, but they were never weighed in. I know one fellow who threw back two winners because he thought they wouldn't be big enough. What he found out later was that he tossed back $250 worth of prizes because nobody else weighed in one either.

I think that even I can catch a spot bigger than two ounces.

Wouldn't that be about that weight of the ones we were catching for bait(3-4") or am way off on this.

Tim, it's very difficult to tell because a member can leave from any port and return there without weighing in a fish. I called all of the weigh in marinas to get their results but there were not very many fish weighed in. The fishing was not real good on Saturday and on Sunday it was a little rough during the daytime fishing hours. I fished both days and we got two winners, one each day, but we never got a spot, croaker, rockfish, or flounder even though we tried for them. Was it the full moon? Dave
