The speckles have finally shown up with some consistancy, for me. Today & yesterday (Sept. 28th & 29) the specks were ending up on the end of my rod instead of a skunk. As soon as the water temp fell below 75 degrees they seemed to pick up interest. Be aware, all that I caught were throw-backs except for one nice one that managed to spit the hook [sad]. Anyway,at least it looks encouraging for this fall.

Have they showed up at Gwynn's island? I'm hoping to get out early Saturday for them. Anyone been fishing that area?

To fish the Dameron Marsh area for specks, do you just go shallow looking for weed beds?

Just got a report that they are in the Rappahanock at the mouth of the corrotoman. Up to 19" and a bunch of 14", all caught on peelers.

i caught a couple small specks 10" - 12" at the mouth of the Corrotoman last sunday using fishbites, and jigging a hopkins on the bottom.

I personally fish areas of grass with artificals.
