I fished with my friend Harold Harris this morning from 7 AM-9:45 Am on the incoming tide.(Cherry Point area) Was a beautiful morning with little wind and caught approx 12-15 small Rock 16-17" and about the same amount of Specks, all small 9"-11"and 1 puppy drum about 2 1/2 lbs. After fishing we returned to his home on the Piankatank & had a wonderful brunch.
Hope these Specks grow some & return next spring.

Howard,
Glad to see you guys had a good day. What beautiful weather, too!
I went back out this AM at first light & caught marbe a dozen 10 -12" specks & 2 keepers;1 was 19 1/2" & the next was 18 1/2". It looks promising for this fall.
My regards to you & tell Hal I said hello (I rigged the electronics on his boats. I've been trying to get him up here to fish my honey holes! Tell him to give me a call.)

Howard,
I was upstream of you this AM. We did well on rocks and one nice puppy. They have been good lately. When are we gonna go fishing? [grin]

HCKRUSE, I fished the same area saturday around 1 PM, and caught nothing. Was I fishing the wrong time of day? I was fishing small lead head jigs and grub tails while drifting over the grass beds. Thanks for your input. I'm always looking to try to fix what I'm doing wrong.

We had an inshore slam of rock, pups, specks & flounder this weekend. Most of the specks were small, but I know a guy that has caught an 8#2oz and 6#2oz in the last week.

Here's a nice 5-1/2# flounder that Jack Fitch of Irvington caught on my boat in Little Bay on a fly rod over the weekend. Not a bad flatty for the shallows.

Wahoo- Although there are exceptions, fishing the shallows is usually poor during the middle of a bright sunny day.

Chris, between the 39" rock and that flounder, you are the man right now.
