I've had a great spot season and really wanted to end it with a good trip Sturday which we did. Had a great crew on board from DC that had 3 spot over a 1lb and after the first 100 fish threw back anything that wasn't a Jumbo and after about 200 fish Super Jumbo. When the got to 250 they said throw all of them back unless they were trout or paper spot. My kind of fisherman and these guys can get a trip with me anytime. We end up with 250 NICE spot 10 keeper trout to 15"(30 or so caugth) 2 blues to 3 lbs,15 or so nice croaker, 10 release rocks and 1 release Flounder. The fish are definitely still in the mid Rapp but are concentrated in small or specific areas. If you find them you catch and if you don't it's a slow day. 19 to 35 feet of water on humps and channel edges produced again for me. Heard one guy up river telling his buddy he was having a hard time catching while a boat 50' away was bailing them. I would love to run some more trips but boat comes out of the water next week for fall check and bottom side paint and my first Rockfish charter is the 22nd so Im in rockfish mode from now until next year. You guys catchem up. First year since chartering I haven't had a spot citation though we would have had 14 off old weights. Best year since chartering for numbers of big spot so it was a good trade off. Spot rods came off the boat today Replaced by wire, spider wire and mono Rockfish Rigs. I think were going to see a good trolling/jigging trout season this year too. First since 2 year ago.
