Just wondering who else hunts at AP Hill and is tired all of all the BS changes? Gets worse every year and then a certain few groups that hunt the CAs tie up all the areas with a big group and most the time they are sneaking into the red zone.

I've hunted there for the last 10 years and stopped this year. I am sick of the good old boy network in everything from lodging to the hunting areas. I've been hunting a private lease this year and enjoy it much more. I never hunted the CA but saw the "unofficial drives" personally. Also saw guys running dogs. I've even brought dogs to the game check station but no one cared.
Some things you just can't fix. I'm retired Army and even went to the installation commander on some of my concerns and observations.

I have been hunting up there since i was 10 and now i am 33. There is one group of retired seals name the Motts who tie up all the CAs and hunt the hell out of them for the 2 weeks of muzzleloader. They have already wounded a bunch of big bucks in the CAs i like to hunt. They shot a 10 and a 8 in one day and lost both. I was going to go up tomorrow but there group in 4 minutes had tied up the area. I am so over that crap. I had 2 cell phones calling right at 7 and could not get one spot out of 11 in 4 minutes. Things just keep getting worse and worse.
I am going to start looking for other places to hunt. It is nothing but a bunch of stress when it comes to trying to hunt the places you like to hunt because of the good old boy network and these A**holes!

I hunt APH.......never in the CA`s so i don`t know what goes on in them but that sure don`t sound right..........i really don`t like how they cut up the TA`s......i think it`s too restrictive.......you can`t move around and hunt the whole TA that your in ........just a small part of it.........

Yeah that part is screwed up too. That Sgt. Major is the prick causing all the change. And now telling you what roads you can drive down is a joke!

APH is still a very good place to hunt......and when you don`t have private land it beats the hell out of the WMA`s.............

best thing to do is just join a club that allows still hunting, then most of the time alot of the members have private pieces or blocks you can hunt as well

This is the first year I've hunted AP Hill and I was impressed. Since I'm a newbie I don't have any passed years to compare it to but a few in the group I was with was saying they liked it better before the changes. I hunt other installations and just about every one has the good ole boy system in one form or another.

I havent hunted there in over 15 years. Inquired a few years ago and learned they require a mandatory hunter safety class on base regardless of your experience or other courses you have taken. What BS. I used to hunt the hell out of are 42. Is that old sawdust pile still there in 42?

The hunters safety course is in a 3 ring binder they hand you to browse through when purchasing the permit. They do require an additional class to hunt the CA areas.
