I'll be in Key West for a few days with my father and brother. I know there are a lot of possibilities -- deep sea fishing, bone fishing, etc. We're looking for something that isn't too expensive.
What is good to do this time of year that is reasonably priced? Would it be smart to just rent a motorboat and drop bottom rigs with fresh bait?
Any advice would be appreciated.
There are a couple of head boats in Garrison Bight Marina, reasonable cost and they do catch fish....Best to find a boat there and split a charter ...Go to the docks when you get there and talk to the mates and captains for splitting while you're there...They're all really cool people there...Garrison Bight is "Charter Boat Row" right on rt 1 in town...Hope this helps you out....Renting boats there is expensive and you need to know where you're going down there...Bill

Thanks, Cujo. We'll check out Garrison Bight.
You're welcome....We have always fished with capt artie and stevie on the wild bill, and have done trips with capt jim on his new 31 cape horn center console a couple down from the wild bill...All stand up people, won't fill you full of stuff just to take your money.....Good luck and let us know how it went....Tell 'em cujo and deanie said hey...

I fish with Brad Simmonds on Southpaw Charters he's on Stock Island, always catch fish, nice guy, always has a first class mate.
typically $650 for half day. Been out with 6 times now, always a great time

Thanks, everybody. We ended up with a very cheap trip (compared to others) that got three of us in a boat for a half day for $250.00. It was very windy, so the captain didn't want to go far and we stayed around some mangrove islands that were more sheltered, and we caught little gray snappers. I guess you get what you pay for.
