When fishing with Tomic lures, do you put anything like a shad on the hook or leave it bare?

leave it bare, or run it as the lure behind an umbrella rig or on a tandem with a large 6 ounce or better bucktail. They work!

I used one like that last year. Did not catch anything so I wanted to be sure I was doing it right. I like the fact it is like a handle when you pick it up out of the water.
