Fish Tank,
We had a similar day, catching the small ones for about an hour before deciding to try to find larger fish farther north. We must have caught a twin to your striper - the fattest 22 & 1/2 inch striper I have ever seen. We didn't have a convenient weigh-in station, so we made the decision to head back in time for a little afternoon duck hunt, because we all figured we'll be able to catch the big ones on Sunday. Larger fish were caught on a large white bucktail on a tandem rig and on a blue shad daisy chain.

Sounds good Tom wish I could get back tomorrow. The Chart. and white were on a daisy chain. I had to hustle to get back by 3pm. It looked like the birds were getting sturd up when I left I would like to know if they started working real good. There was a lot of birds just sitting.

Well Fish Tank, I was about half right about the big ones being caught on Sunday with me doing the catching. I had the privilege of netting a 42 inch striper that weighed 28 lb, 8 oz caught on his own boat, the Aces Up, by Capt. Dave Compton. All weigh-in stations have not reported, but it would take a big fish indeed to surpass Capt. Dave's fine catch. John Elkin and I appeared to have made a mistake in claiming rights to only 8 of the 9 rods we were trolling and allowing Dave to claim one as his designated rod. He had said something to the effect that one rod would be all he would need.
Oh well, there are still three more weekends of the bonus striper tournament for all NNAC members to try to catch the big one with weekly winners and a grand prize winner for the heaviest striper for the four weekends. Fair winds and good fishing luck to all.

well I missed the boat and forgot about the tournament. fished with dan moore on Game Time with one of my sons and three of his friends. caught a 52 inch around the gw1. the young man who reeled it in had not caught anything bigger than a bluegill before .caught it on a white mojo with 9"white shad.caught a 35" in the same area 2 weeks ago.

Still don't have a verified contact with one weigh in location. I will try again tomorrow.
I was fishing a charter on Saturday and we wound up trolling for a while by 63A. We got one big striper that was 35 inches. Due to that I decided to go north on Sunday. We started at 63A and went north to the SP Buoy with no luck. Then we turned west toward Buoy 65 at the bottom of the Triangle. About 1/4 mile south of the VA/MD line we got a fish on the roof top rod which was my designated rod. It was just luck. The fish was 42" and weighed 28-8. We trolled most of the rest of the day, stopping only to jig up a few dinks by Blackberry Hang. We never got another big fish.
The one we did get was on a 6" arm umbrella rig with white 6" shads teasers and a five oz. white Terminator style jig with a double hooked 9" shad. It was back about 175 - 200 ft. with no in line weight.
Went out again today with a charter to the NN reef to chum. Big party so I booked it on Jimmick Jr. III. It rained most of the day. Score was 156 rocks, two black willies, an oyster toad, and a herring. The biggest rock was 25 3/4".
Ya'll try next weekend. Dave
