Hit the James Saturday December 4th right at light. Shad had fled with the water temp drop from where they normally are this time of year so that through us for a loop from the get go. Went to plan B where they show up later when it is cold and got plenty to fish with quickly. Tide was slack when we got to our first spot and it took over an hour for the water to move and then the wind was going against the tide at that. We made do and when the water went to moving it was on. We had a good day from that point on landing several in the 40s, 6 in the 30s, and then numerous in the 20s. Lost one real good fish, the bite we had been looking for all day. Started snowing on us that evening. To finish the day of, we landed a bonus 25 lb striper along with another 10 lb striper. All fished released to fight another day. As usual, the winter fishing at the James didnt let us down. Would have liked to get on some bigger fish but you cant be upset when you get that many good fish. It was worth the 2 hour drive up. Hopefully the weather will cooperate the 21st and I can get back and try it again.
