The completion of the study and the Rudee Inlet Committe came to a conclusion last week. We reviewed a study that concluded the same thing that we told the city when we went to city council. "WHEN THE CREW WAKES UP IN THE AM LOOK AND SEE IF IT IS CALM ENOUGH TO DREDGE THE ENTRANCE" That is about it. We did get a red light out of the deal and they tell me that a green light will not happen. I have a hard time with that when I see a green and red light at most every channel around the world including the most remote 3rd world countrys. The Currituck is supposed to arrive today to dredge the outer bar. Also, I have asked for addittional data to try to create more accountibilty and better communication.
The good news is that after last years extension, the inlet is in the best shape that it has ever been in. We just need to press for proper and consistant maintainence. It will never be perfect all the time, but this is the begining of an accountability process. Thanks, MIke Standing
