This was my first time fishing for winter rockfish ...We started right at bouy #1 on saturday about 10:30 and we fished until 12:30 when water got a little bumpy for my triton 186..We caught one fish 37inches on a white umbrella ...Sunday we went back to the same area and got lucky again. We caught two fish 36in.and a 43 in. pig!!!Both fish were caught on white umbrellas..All three fish were caught on western side of channel about 1 mile south of #1. We would troll about 15 minutes between marking any bait and about 20 minutes between marking individual fish..Slow day for most but for a couple of newbies it was awesome..Radio chatter was all to the south and a slow bite if any..Hope this helps someone out gl 2 all...Donnie B...........

Thanks for the report. Good to here someone had some luck on the west side. I got a skunk, but fished less than two hours around the Windmill bar area in the early afternoon. Plenty of bait on the north side of Windmill bar, but I didn’t get any hits. I talked to a guy coming in at the marina who caught some around 42 today. I hope to make the run down to Cape Charles on Thursday if the weather cooperates.

Where is #1? Were you on the west side of the bay?

Green #1 is on western side of shipping channel almost directly west of 62. #1 is closest bouy marking channel when exiting great wicomico in reedeville. Fish were caught south of #1 in 55-80 foot depth range...GL Donnie B.....
