i'm ready. have not targeted them in a while. Used to take my jon-boat out in the rapp up here in f-burg...
i am thinking of trying in some tribs around cole point.
Silver buddys jigged off bottom! if you locate them, easy pickings.

Saw Capt Neil R using those buddys in his video. Minnows are good too!

In the past I've had luck with minnows on a larger shad dart. Of course the old standby (a small gold silver buddy) is always rigged and available. I always remove the bottom treble to minimize lure loss and fish on the lightest ultra-light spinning outfit I have. 6Lb superline allows you to feel the bottom at a significant depth.
Rocksandblues, any insight on the holes that might hold perch this time of year in the Rap.? I'm just finishing up a refirbish on my skiff before taking it to its winter home in Fl. I live in Frederuicksburg and a perch jerk would be a good way to field test the improvements.
b-mail info. if you like, and I'll fill you in on the results. This warm winter seems to have never frozen the fishin bug.

I live in Fredericksburg too. I don’t know much about yellow perch but there is a strong run of white perch in April. You can catch them pretty much anywhere. I fish a “perch jerk” tournament with friends.

I once saw a sign in Capt.Bone's tackle Shop in Del.that read..A fisherman is a jerk on one end waiting for a jerk on the other!

I haven't tried the holes yet...
The cold turn in the weather delayed the fiberglass work I need to finish on the skiff.
Figures... warmest winter in memory, UNTIL I buy the mat and resin.
I've been catching onesies, twosies, threesie, since late DEC and through January while fishing for LMB. Went off my dock this past Sunday while it was still snowing (wife thinks I'm looney), caught around two dozen in less than an hour, most were niced sized ones. They were staged in deeper water, along the channel drop. This is normal timing for where I live... They will be moving shallow very soon. I'm hoping this weekend will be a reapeat of their pattern.
Not to disclose locations, but i'm along a certain trib of a "Del-Mar" river on the 'Eastern Sho' [wink]
I'm using 2" FinS on either 1/8 or 1/4 heads exclusively, ultra light with 4lb FireLine. The bite is light, but they are actively hitting minnow like artificals. Live minnows on a jig or dart is another sure bet for Yellow perch, no matter your location.
