Quick question for all you veterans...I'm still pretty new to this.

I know the spring striper season does not open until May 1, but I've got some buddies who want to come down and C&R fish in April. When does the action start to heat up in the bay for stripers? I'm fishing out of Indian Creek (Fleet's Bay), in April would I need to run down towards CBBT/Wolf Trap or will the fish be up around the Rapp mouth?

Thanks much for any info on how spring striper fishing works in the bay.

I wouldnt be suprised to find fish throughout the bay in early spring. Just read a post about about nice fish being caught around wolftrap. A couple of weeks ago when coming back up the bay from ocean fishing we saw many hives of birds working as far north as the mouth of the York river and marked many nice fish even up into the river.

years ago when you could fish for stripers year round, april was very good around smith point and the mouth of the potomac. light colored baits fished high in the water colum were deadly

April 1 is a pretty good bet if not earlier. I fish very close to where you are and if the weather cooperates, the stripers can be here and some bigger than usual specs in the shallow water. Fleets bay area is good place that time of year. Try any structure too.
... now I'm starting to think about spring too much. Getting itchy.
