Anyone know where I can buy a pig or a hog?? I'm on Kent Island. I want to pit-cook one this spring and I'm just trying to plan ahead. Thanks!

It is a little bit of a drive. Wagners meats in Mount Airy sells hogs. Both live and ready to cook.

My brother in law buys one every year for his pig roast at J.W. Treuth & Sons, Meat Packers in Ellicott City . It has always been very good but order ahead to get the size you want

Try Sudlersville Meat Locker, just over the railroad tracks on #300 in Sudlersville. Closer then those other places mentioned.

Just 1,
C & C Meats in Upper Marlboro sells 'em. That's where we get ours every year. Usually need a few days notice. We usually get a 50-60 #'er. Prices are good.

My Butcher & More in Annapolis

Owner's name is Mike. He has them slaughtered to order for you on the eastern shore. He just needs a week or two advance notice. I bought 6-7 pigs from him last year and he does a great job.

As far as I've seen this is the best place to get a pig on the shore. I've helped several friends cook pigs from there and its the only way to go.

Had these guys do a party I had on Tilghman. Very reasonable, all inclusive, first-class outfit.

They own Preston Butcher Shop.

Might want to check them out . . .

I second third and fourth the Sudlersville Meat Locker. I've bought several from there. They are cheap and have that bad boy ready when you get there. Also where my butcher in annapolis gets his from. Also I would HIGHLY suggest grabbing some scrapple from them while you are there. 1 and 3 pound blocks. Best scrapple I've ever had, and believe me I've had a lot!!

I got one this fall at Galvinel near Conawingo (http://www.galvinell.com/). They have cookers, charcoal, and anything else you need!
