What he really meant was that it is not the lure that gets the fish it is the fisherman.
Let's break it down a bit more.. You all ever seen those budwiser lures or the fly made out of a trash bag? They catch fish if PRESENTED correctly. And even the most expensive lure if not PRESENTED correctly will not catch fish..
So I submit and you may or may not agree that 90 % of catching is PRESENTATION.
The rest is just dumb luck.:eek2:
Thoughts?
Capt Mike
It's certainly true. When fish are present and feeding, it's not difficult catching them. Finding them and knowing the kind of presentation is the key. I submit you could catch stripers consistently on the bay with probably 3 lures - a topwater lure, a jig - either a bucktail or Bass Assassin type bait and a jigging spoon like a Gold Hopkins. Knowing where, when and how to fish these lures is the trick.

That's funny...I was just removing items from my kayak crate. Years ago I read the Buck Perry book...changed my outlook on what I needed to catch fish. Two guys can stand in the same spot throwing plastics... one is catching... the other fishing, now it also helps if there are fish where you are fishing

Totally true. My dad has a coors light crank and has caught fish on it. I think a lot of times people overanalyze fishing, especially bass fishing. They get into all of the "high tech" stuff but at the end of the day, a fish is a fish and a bass is a bass. Throwing a texas rigged worm has been around for years and years and is still a top producer. Its just that you have to know when and where to throw it.
