Any rod building supply shops in MD? Ideally looking for one between DC, Baltimore, and Frederick, thanks.

Thanks for the reply flatliner, I guess this board is pretty quiet. I fish out of the Narrows in the summer but off season I rarely travel down that way and it's too far just to make a special trip. At this point I'm more of a fixer uper than a builder - it would be helpful if I could find a place closer to home where I could go to try to match guides and thread colors that I'm trying to repair / replace.

I've been reading a lot about rod building on other sites like mudhole.com and noreast.com which have been very helpful. I'm testing my skills by doing repairs before I try to take on a bigger project like new rod build but I'm getting there. Up until this winter if I broke a guide, lost a ring, or snapped too much off the tip I'd just hang it up in the garage to collect dust. This winter I decided to see what I could do and surprised myself how easy it is to fix them. On a couple of my repairs, the only way you can tell which guide I fixed is because it looks better than the others, some are just ok, and some have not turned out as well but they are all better than they were when they were broken.

Matching guides and thread colors is part of the tricks of the trade. You do enough of them and you just know.

There are no supply houses in MD or Va. Versitex is probably the closest (outside Philly) but it's pick up only.

Thanks guys, that saves me some searching.

I sent photo's of some broken guides to someone at Mudhole who was very helpful, he gave me some suggestions on what brand to buy that turned out to be pretty close. I bracketed the size and got that pretty close too. I'll probably do the same thing on the thread, I'm working on a couple broken guides on Shimano rods that have metalic gold accents at the beginning of the wraps, I figure that's a pretty standard thing so if I'm off by a little I'll be the only one who will notice.
