Bloodworms were nowhere to be found at the stores along 17 so we fished with shrimp and squid. Shrimp 30 squid 0. We found the croakers across the river from Garrett's Marina (out of the wind) in 8-12 feet of water. The action was moderate to slow but we had enough bites to keep it interesting. We also caught what looked to be a whiting about 6" long. We drifted instead of anchoring. Got the boat on the trailer in time to avoid the rain.

Chum,
We found bloodworms at the station where you turn in to go to Garretts, it was afternoon (too much Kentucky Derby Partying).
We found the croakers just downriver of Garretts on the south side in 4' of water. Bite was good, bordering on fast, nothing large except a 25" cat. I was surprised with the bite due to the tide being low. We were not as smart as you, it started raining pretty hard and we had a wet ride in.

You guys faired better than my Dad and I, we fished out of Waterview Saturday and struggled to catch about 20 croakers.[sad] We did catch 7 cats of varying lenghts.

We had 150 Tue and 200 Thursday on my charters with the best fishing for me being behind old Bouy 9 in 10' to 15 ' of water. Blood worms and shrimp caught best and we had a good early morning and afternoon bite with a slower mid day bite. Lost of throw back spot (had 50 Thursday) throw back trout and 2-4 release rocks a day18 to 24 inches. Josh and I fished less than 2 hours Saturday morning catching 27 croakers for fresh fish for us and his Grandparents and added 8 spot to the pen for future Rock fishing. Weather has the fish finicky but they can be caught in good numbers if you target the right places. Im catching well in shallow area and in 30 to 35 feet of water along deep drop offs. Anchor on these spots and cast as far from the boat as you can put the rods in the rod holders and wait for them to double up. I like oyster beds and mud flats this time of year. 3 or 4 days of hot weather would go a long way to fueling the bite on the Rapp.
Have a good one

Thanks for the report Bobby----it will be a couple weeks before I try 'em again, maybe by then the weather will have stabilized and the bite will pick up.
Good Luck to All[excited]

Thanks and more thanks, Bobby. Didn't believe you until you started talkin. You did say zip on the squid....? usually a few will come even if not preferred. Got me thinking - water temp may have to come up a bit to get large squid swallers into Rapp. and area. Keep you posted, and thanks again.

Captrichie we did catch a couple on squid and they were a better grade of fish but out of 350 plus fish last week only caught about 10 on squid. I forget to post on tidalfish sometimes but you can always keep up with how and where we're catching on my website www.misterjspleasure.com under fishing reports. Normaly pics with my reports just incase someone might not believe me.
Have a good one

Thanks for the comments Bobby. Great food for thought and more things to try the next time I get out.
