Will be staying at Cobb Island in the Potomac the second week in August. Will have my 17' Logic CC and two grandsons (23 & 14) who are looking forward to fishing. In the past years we have stayed at OC MD and have fished for Flounder, Croaker,Stripers, Sea Trout and Bluefish.

What variety of fish can I expect to catch in that general area at that time?

White perch, croaker, rock, spot and maybe some snapper blues. Bring your crabbin gear, your also at the mouth of the Wicomico, crabs should be running good by then.

Thanks Catcake: Sounds like some good eatin fish topped of with fresh crabs. The owner advised me that the crabs generally are plentiful.

Directly across from you on the Va. side of the river is Colonial Beach. If you get a local map of the river you'll see lots of lumps on the map in front of Colonial Beach. The locals catch Rockfish jigging those lumps. I fish about 15-20 miles south of Cobb Island, so I don't get up there too often.
Look for breaking fish, it's usually bluefish or Spanish Mackeral feasting on Menhadden. You can cast into them or troll near them.
You can also catch a few flounder in the area. There's also several great Charters there on the island.
Good Luck and give us a shout on the radio. CH 68

Thanks Mushy. I had checked out the charts and had noted the structure that you mentioned. I had hoped that it would lend itself to LTJ. Again thanks for confirming it. Would be nice to get into the Spanish. Will keep in touch.
Tight lines,
John
