Made a early am commitment to my crew to go across yesterday and landed after a few nice jumps in the 42 area. NW 10 - 15 and settling down in the late morning sure did not work out that way. We were rocking with three - four footers all day with 20 NW! Between the lurches we managed to get a 17,21, and 23" flat one before I had to tell the crew that I had a deadline with the missus and we headed back. Boy was I glad that I moved the boat south as the 7 mile trip ( that used to be 17) back across was worse than the trip over and the waves helped us check for any loose fillings. One of my comrades lost his new GPS over the side - oops.
Anyway, if it's out of the north next time I think I need an alternative plan - but flounder on the grill tonight might make me forget before next time.

Glad you got a few Dave. You Grady boys can fish in any weather. How do you like the new barn?

So far so good BT - I have yet begun to explore the new places that are within reach. I haven't run to the bridge yet but it looks very reachable now with a day trip. The 10 mile trip to 42 goes quickly, I will really like this in fall rock season. I may even have to learn how to catch a spade at Wolftrap this year. As with most boatels, the people at Gwynn's go out of their way to help. I am learning that the most important thing to do this summer is to get the shallow Milford Haven piece down and find a spot behind Gwynn's when it blows from the North. Seems like I keep timing my trips to the peak of the north winds, and the next day I am pulling poison ivy for four hours while the sun shines with no wind. Oh well.

1995 27 sailfish with twin 200's. Bought it from a friend, it goes anywhere and my wife insisted on a bigger boat - we had a 208 with a 200.

Sounds like a grady club....My wife and I own a 1988 25' sailfish with twin 200 johnsons. We fished the derby friday and saturday with her and four other friends..."team aflac!". I am proud to report that on saturday morning we made it almost to the middle grounds with 4 to 5 foot seas and howling winds! It was really a testament to the grady....she will get you home. Decided to head in shore and south when two 40'+ vessels nearby turned back and said it wasnt worth it!!!!!!!

Left GW in a 25 footer and made it to Smith Point Light. Further North the bumper it got. Wasn't hard to convince my crew to turn around. Did go to the NNREEF and chummed a bucket. Welcomed the shunk in the boat and went back to the cottage.
