Yeh- It was nice to see the "BIRDS" doing well(so far). I'm lucky that the O's games are on TV here (VA BEACH) a lot --- Keeps my roots from Dundalk alive.......

Why can't the O's sell bottled beer at the Yard...

...they always lose the opener.

It's always great to see an O's win but any time you can attend a game is great, win or lose.............Gary

Since those are usually the only fans that show up to the games anyway, O's fans give up as soon as they lose a few

it was a helluva day at the yard though

John, I like the Phls too. I am a born and raised Philly boy and prefer national league play. My most memorable year of loving baseball was in 1993 when the phils went to the world series as I was in college and we went to a ton of games at the vet that summer. However, I have become a bit of a homer living in MD the last 14 years and have grown to love the O's and Camden Yards. I would go as far to say that I would route for the O's over the Phils in a head to head match up (much to my parents and brothers dismay).

Anyhow, I was at the O's game from batting practice on yesterday. I am fortunate enough to work for the printing company that does much of the Orioles print work (game programs, magazine, yearbook, score cards, etc.) and the company has a luxury box. We were in a small box along the third base side for opening day with limited seats but our regular box is on the first base side. Here are a few shots of the day.. including one of Luke Scott, our favorite O as I got to fish with him last year, and Buck. Also note the one of Leyland and Buck having a conversation. Talk about two of the leagues top managers! (Leyland was the man for the pirates when they were very competitive back in the day).

I'm just old enough to have seen a couple of games at Connie Mack Stadium, where you had to pay the local kid $.50 extorsion so he would make sure no one would mess with your car when of course everyone knew that it would be him if you didn't pay.

Remember most fondly the Scmidtt, Boone, Carlton, Maddox, Cash, Bowa, Ludzinski (sp) team of the late 70's and of course the 80 world series team. The Vet was a place that I didn't like much as a baseball venue. Spent many a summer day at home from Winthrop College hanging out there with my dad, would give anything to have him back for one more trip to the ballpark.

Have not been to their new park but, I've been told by friends still there that it's a great ballpark. I've been to the Yard about a dozen times now and I really love that park. The family spends the whole weekend at the inner harbor doing the tourist thing and we just love it.

I have been to Citizens Bank Park a number of times. I even saw the Phils in the playoffs there (yes, I love baseball). It is a fantastic park and worth the trip up. While Camden Yards is my favorite, the park in Philly has some great features. It is an open park so when you are walkaround getting food and drink, you can still see the field. Downtown philly is over center field too. My brother who is a school teacher used to travel to see as many parks as he could in the summers before getting married and having kids. He thinks Camden Yards is number 1. He also speaks highly of the new pittsburgh stadium. He said Atlanta is the worst he went to. Of course he loved the atmosphere of boston and wrigley. He never did texas or the west coast though

Funny you bring up Connie Mack stadium as my dad has a seat from the old ballpark at his business. My brother has a bunch of seats from the Vet in his basement. I am only in my late 30's so the Vet was were all my childhood memories were made.

Very cool about the seats from the 2 ballparks. Was just recently at the Wells Fargo Center watching the Flyers and saw that they're almost complete in the demolition of the Spectrum. Very sad for me, that's where I saw my Flyers game in 67 and my first concert in 77 (Allman Bros.). Being from South Jersey I guess we shared some of the same sport pursuits a little over a decade apart...small world I guess. Tight lines.
