OI Report 7/23-24

Caught a mixed bag of Spanish and blues pulling clark spoons just outside the inlet. Went down to the Boiler and caught a few trigger, small sea bass and pig fish. This was the first time pulling boat down to OBX and have left the boat there for fishing the next few weekends.

Would like to hook up with some local fisherman or guys who know the inlet and sound fishing better than I. Tried inside near bridge and around a few nearby islands with soft baits and red jig heads but got nothing but grass. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Will run offshore if the weather allows it. Jon

Try green island slough. To get there go out under the OI bridge cross the inlet to the south side and go back under the bridge. Green Island slough runs along the shore up into the sound. It should be on your chart. I have done well there in the past on Flounder, Red Fish and trout.
