A friend of mine lives with his scanner on. He called me today around 12:15. A call came across that a boat had overturned near the Benjamin Harrison with 3 people aboard. CG and EMS were dispatched.
Then about 10 min later, he calls back. Another on near Dutch Gap. Chesterfield dive and EMS called.
Anyone know anything?

Henrico Co. police told me this afternoon about 4:00PM that "a" boat did capsize near the bridge and two people were thankfully pulled from the water and taken to the Chesterfield side to recuperate. He told me another boater pulled them out of the water. Thank God for another boater. Can you imagine? He really did not know anything about a "2nd " incident. Henrico did send their jon boat out of Osbourne Landing and they went all the way to the BH Bridge (he said) I can't imagine a jon boat making it that far with the wind and waves !
Alls well that ends well.................................[angel][angel][angel]

They must not have been thinking if they went out in a jon boat on a day like today.[sad]

CBS just had a bit about it on a commercial for 11 o'clock. Didn't mention anyone seriously hurt. Thank God.

Yea when we came across the BH bridge this morning around 6 o'clock we saw a jon boat that looked to be about 14ft with 2 people in it....When I saw it I looked at Petey and said what the he** are they thinking......I have never seen 2-3ft swells at Jordan Point at 6am

My cousin and his friend went out Sunday in a 15 ft jon boat. Caught a 25, 30, 30 and one 53 pounder. Lost one big one too. -Kepone

Oh My God Kepone! I am sorry to hear that. Were you close to that cousin? God Bless the family.
How big was the cousin?

IMO, any jon boat that was out on the James on Sunday was just being plain stupid. The water below Presquille was the roughest I've seen in quite some time.

Did anybody get a waypoint on the boat?!?! That little bump of structure could be interesting.

Lets see, if it went under near Jordan Point, with that NW wind and outgoing tide, that should be a fine piece of structure when it finally comes to rest around Hog Island. Kepone and Earlyriser, let us know.

Hey Donnie - no, I reluctantly sold the little boat. A lot of good time spent in that boat... Maybe the knucklehead that bought it went for a swim. I'm thinking of finding another smaller boat though, and a jet motor, to chase flatheads up here.
