JUST WONDERING WHAT IS BEST TO USE BELOW SWIVEL?IM USING 65LB PP ABOVE.IS MONO BETTER FOR LEADER ?WHAT TEST?

I use 50lb ande from the swivel to the hook, have problems everynow and then, sometimes think i need to goto 80 lb leader, never used pp for leader.

I been using this stuff in 50 lb. test for a couple years and it has been doing OK. Although Sunday something big either bit through it (bowfin?) or just abraded through the line against a submerged tree. Hard to imagine a tree doing that but who knows what the hell happened. My leader was all nicked up so I'm pretty sure some teeth had their way with it. The fish hit and I was having trouble turning him.
