Does anyone know anything about the interphase line of GPS / fishfinders? Here's a link to one I found.

I bought a project boat with a really nice 20 year old (approx) interphase fish finder unit and was really impressed with the fact that it still works and with the features and ease of use. I've been looking for new and keep looking at lowrance, garmin and raytheon, now I'm wondering about interphase. I've owned Lowrance and Garmin and somewhat familiar with Raytheon, but I had never heard of this brand until recently.

I wonder what Map options are available / compatible on the GPS units?
Anybody?

Tom,
if you have owned Lowrance, why go any further ?
Unless you are getting into the big commercial machines I think that Lowrance innovation and features should be the ones that all others are judged by.

I used the Interphase Twinscope for two years. It has potential, but I don't think it preformed up to the hype. I mainly wanted to track schools of fish or bait. Under absolute perfect conditions it did an OK job in the bay. Offshore it was useless.

The Lowrance sidescan is 100% better and I can track schools of bait or see under pots offshore, works like a champ. I have been trying to convince Lowrance to add forward looking sonar to Sidescan.

There is an aftermarket Lowrance gaget that turns sidescan into a rotating 360 degree sonar, very cool.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably end up going with Lowrance. I trailer and fish inshore in tidal river and bay 5 or 10 times a year and I'm looking for something simple to operate, reliable, and easy to read. Trying to stay below $1,000 for GPS/fishfinder combo, but not crazy about the Lowrance 5" screen.
