Decided to try some inshore action on Saturday the 20th with my dad. Started at the DE light and found the biggest woodpile I have ever seen and called it into the Coast Guard but they could have cared less. The damn thing was 4 miles long but 1 mile wide and a tanker must have dumped a whole container in the ocean. It was very hazardous but managed 2 gaffers out of it as I tried to get away from that mess.
Trolled out to the triple wrecks to setup for some live bait fishing but the dive boats were there and I like to stay clear of them as I am a diver myself.
Went about 2 miles south of them to some more wrecks and setup for some live baiting with spot. Missed one nice runoff but just at that time a whitey come tailing up only 25 miles offshore. Water was clear blue.
I beleive all of us are running over the fish heading to the deep and there were some boats at Masseys that had some YF early in the AM and some boats that went to the teacup and Baltimore that had green water and turned around.
Moral is, dont bypass the inshore lumps if you see bait because I beleive we have the same water as a few years ago and you will save some gas
A white was caught at the DE light last week and that is only 15 miles from shore as the crow flies
