OK so were still alive despite what the weather channel says LOL. Seriously, so far we have had winds sustained to tropical storm speeds 30-60 or so. Currently the water here in Colington harbor has fallen with the strong n/e wind about 3.5 ft or so. The old timers here tell me to expect it to continue to drop until the eye passes which at this point looks to be directly overhead Collington (Kill Devil Hills) some time around noon. The winds will increase to max & then will shift to the west & water will quickly pile back in. This is the tricky part. How much water will get shoved back in???? Well I should know soon enough. So far so good. Still have power & cable, both boats are still holding up however Fancy looks like she will soon be touching bottom if not already. CB is up high on the lift & looking good. When the water comes back in I just hope it will not be more than 5 ft above normal or I will have all kinds of problems to deal with.

The best of luck to all. This is a huge storm but atleast were not dealing with a Cat 3-4. Thank God for that.

Winds starting to shift more to the south, water in the canals now about 5ft below normal. Should start to turn around & start filling back in. Lots of boats sitting on their keels. Not too much visible damage in Collington. Went out to the beach at mile 8 & other than lost roof shingles on the east side of ocean properties, we didn't see too much going on. I think this one will end up being worse for people NW of the track so beach erosion should be much less than expected down here for Beach's above Oregon inlet. Now just waiting to see how much water floods back in. Took more pics but INTERNET is so slow it might take a while to add.

BTW wind is still ripping but not over 60 yet here at the house.

Just reported on Fox news Hatteras officals just ordered more body bags for people that stayed to ride it out. That doesn't sound good. I pray everyone makes it ok.
