Dropped some crab pots in Cockles Creek near Chincoteague on 22 AUG. And went and fished elsewhere for a couple of hours. Came back around the corner and saw this boat pulling one of my crab pots. Ran it down and took the photo. Unfortunately, registration number didn't come out clear enough. Sitting in front of guy with blue shirt was a a stack covered with a blanket. Just a head's up.

So...you didn't approach these guys and demand your pot back or maybe call DNR while following them?

Are you allowed to crab with pots in Va? In Md via boat you can't unless licensed and iirc you have to put your name on the floats.

Might want to print up a few fliers with the photo and brief description of what they did.

Put the fliers up in the local bait shops / marinas / boat ramps.

Wait did they steal the pot itself or any crabs that might've been in it?

I'm unclear as to what you plan to do if you find the owner as you had him right there already....

There's no F'in way he gets out of there and I'm right next to him while he STEALS MY POTS! Flare gun or something even if I have to force him on to a sand bar while I'm calling the Coast Guard or someone.
