Left the OC inlet around 5:30. Sea was flat calm but lots of heavy fog on the way out. Started troll just about 5 miles past the dog on the way to poormans. Water was nice (72-73) and marked lots of bait. Trolled area for a bit and put one gaffer dolphin in the boat. Tons of flotsam everywhere – some packed and some scattered – making trolling in some areas tough. Picked up another small mahi and then decided to troll out to poormans. Bad idea as water was green out there and there were scattered weed but no life Only heard of and talked to one boat out there. Decided to pick up and head back in. On the way back, we came across a pod of dolphin and they were riding the bow. This one decided to give us a show and made several jumps and spins higher than the bow of the boat. Almost jumped in the boat! Anyhow, we stopped back in around 40 fathoms and started trolling again and picked up a 40lb Wahoo on a plain bally downrigger. Heard of a lot of marlin being seen and some caught but we never saw one. Folks were saying they were mostly window shopping but not biting. Someone said a good bite was down South. Did not hear of anyone boating tuna. Pictures to follow tomorrow.
