any suggestions for tonight?

I have a friend in town today that wants to go catfishing on the James this evening. I haven't been on the river since this spring and didn't know if anyone would give me a heads up on whether they are biting better above or below Jordan Pt. I am not looking for any spots (have them in both directions) just looking for general direction on where they are biting the best. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I wouldn't go more than a few miles above jordan. Plenty of bait around there too.

Been catching em pretty good below BHB. Caught a few off the power line pillings, a couple in tar bay near the bend and one decent fish in herring creek. But the biggest ones came off the right side between flower dew and wards creek in the deep water last night. But i would listen to everyone else and go to dutch gap. Good Luck [grin]

10-4 on UP river dude ! they are mighty hungry near the 895 bridge and within a mile of the bridge either way. Never seen nothing like it ! Pretty much anything NORTH of Dutch Gap is a winner!

sorry I had gotten back...ended up below J.P. and did fair. Had a four in the 8-15 range, one approx. 25lbs. and great pull that we pulled the hook on after five minutes. Thanks for the info. I wanted my buddy to see a 40+ but he (and I) were cool with what we had. Beautiful night on the river.
