I never saw it. Sorry.

150 quart cooler. Livewell pump (800 gph). 3/4" plastic hose. Plastic pipe.

Drain fitting on cooler unscrews. Insert livewell pump inlet, apply sealant, install screw fitting and tighten. Run hose up to a plastic pipe nipple or elbow running thru side wall of cooler. Make it high on cooler. Again seal with sealant. And for a sprayer I have been using a $2, 1/4 turn hose cutoff valve. When open about half way, it creates a great spray and shoots the water across the cooler.

I can get some pics tomorrow. It has been working for me all summer in the JRCC tournaments. Many guys use a longer spray bar inside with small hole along the lenght of the pipe (plastic).

There is a link on the VCA site. I will find it.

That is really popular. Mine is not as complex. All the add-ons are on one end. Very little to get in the way.

There are many variations. Truck tool boxes, horse troughs, specially fabricated metal livewells etc.

Good luck.

'preciate the pics and info. Dayton. Yours looks simpler , and like you said uncluttered. It would be easier to make. Do you think the double intake on the one with filter screens on vca is more efficient or not? Have you had any fish to die? I don't much like all the junk on the outside of the one on vca. Thanks.
Moe
PS How many big fish can you keep in it and how long in spring months?

Haven't lost a fish in it yet. Summer water temps are the hardest on fish. Mine were fine last year. We only had 7-8 hour tournaments. VCA fishes 12 hours. I bought a 12v Oxygen generator last year also. Little black box with two screens on it, hooks to battery.

As for big fish......how would I know?[grin] I think Javalin99 had two fish in one last year that totaled 80-90 pounds. Snug, but works.

I have an 189 qt cooler and it has held two sixty+ pounders in it, It's kinda cramped but you put one fish one way and the other looking the other way.

Almost forgot, don't know if it was mentioned earlier or not, but you can get the coolers from Walmart/Sams/Priceclub/Costco. They should not cost more than $70-80 for a 150 quart. You DO NOT need the "Marine" models that some boating stores sell for 3 times the cost.

I believe what you have is an electric unit that separates free radical atoms of hydrogen from existing water thus creating more oxygen in the remaining water.

I am very anxious to learn if this unit is superior to standard aeration pumps. Let me know if you have tried it out and feel it is better or not.

A 150 qt cooler will hold 2 50lbs,but is tight. You just need to put the fish in as Chris mentioned earlier

Hey BBcroaker, come to the weigh in and hang out with us.

Katchaser, I have on the gizmos that "makes oxygen" from the water. I seemed to work well for me all last year. I used it in all the JRCC tournaments. It does not move any water. Is puts out a very fine "mist" in the water. Almost like smoke coming out of the screens. You still need to circulate the water.

I took it to work and had one of the guys in our water lab see if it was actually working. It was.

I foregot to tell you guys that my 150qt igloo cooler was $65+tax at sams. Don't buy a colored cooler they don't hold cool as long as all white does. If you want to test them and have both, put a bag of ice in each one out in the sun. The white keeps it much longer.

look in to using an oxygen system. I haven't seen anything better. especially during the hot summer months when a lot of fish are killed during tournys.

whatever size spin's cooler is works fine - it held a 60 and a 45 from 9 am till 4 pm no problems at all and they both swam away fine.

Both of those fish were not in the same cooler. We had one in the cooler & 1 in the fishbox on my boat.

I used to use the kepone signature series stringer through the inside of the bottom lip when I used to keep fish to eat and they lived alright.

Could the hole get infected? yep
Could the current keep them at the top so the sun burns them? yep Does anyone on here listen to what I say anyway? nope

Have a nice day.[smile]

Kepone out.

If you are using a cooler for a live make sure your top is open unless you have oxygen hooked up or you are moving. If you keep it closed the fish will die in a couple of hours if its very hot. I have a 150 gallon tank with a sprayer bar but I still change the weater every 3-4 hours. My problem is that my tank is too big when time to weigh the fish they are to alive.

Another tip someone passed on to me was to draw water from a few feet below the surface. Much cooler. I have a bilge pump on a hose that I drop over the side with a weight attached. Works well. Remember swimming in the lake during the summer, how much cooler the water is on your toes?
