Had a great Father/Son weekend in O.C. We trailered the jon boat down and fished for flounder and stripers for a couple hours Friday evening, then fished all day Saturday. Did not see any keeper stripers and no flounder at all. Not much luck on the flounder and stripers…so we decided to try something we have never done before….tog fishing! Toggin seems to be pretty good in O.C. right now. Unfortunately, since we started toggin kinda late into our trip we only managed one keeper, but it was fun fishing, and those things are fighters! Can’t wait to do more togging! Does anybody have a favorite way to cook tog? I’m probably gonna grill it.

Tog are terrrrrible to eat and you should NEVER fish for them again!!!:) Stick to oyster toads and skate----now thats some goood grillin;'...... Seriously, there is no bad way to cook them....fried, baked, grilled----stuffed with crab is the way I had them last (thanks to a good friends wife).. It all depends on your taste!!!!! Enjoy and catch um up!

Thanks, Rich, believe me...I'm not gonna hurt the population of any fish! They are challenging to catch and, like you said, delicious! I grilled mine with a little Paul Prudhomme's seafood magic!

Tog's flesh is frim, white, and flaky that tastes a little like crab, probably because that's what they eat. They make a great fish stew. You end up with big chunks of fish that hold together. Find a codfish recipie and substitute tog for cod. Great stuff.
