October 30, 2011 "Truck Fishing" Sabine Lake, where else but Texas! I am waiting for my new boat to get rigged up. So what do you do? Fish with your truck! You don't need a boat to go fishing, or to catch fish (although the boat is kind of nice). Took a ride up and down the levee at Pleasure Island Sunday morning with a brisk east wind, white caps spraying against the rocks, and the Speckled Trout biting. Catching Specks with a popping cork and a short leader is almost like using a topwater lure. The Specks usually break the surface, so there is a lot of excitement when you get a bite. The main problem besides the wind and the wet slippery rocks, were the annoying Needle Nose Gar Fish. You had to put up with them if you wanted to stay in the Trout. Can't wait to get my new boat. If you don't have a boat, don't let it stop you from fishing.
