Nice! Especially the fox in mid-pounce. I've found that type of shot to be a tough shot to get and still have it in focus.

Thanks guy........... I used basically the same settings I use on BIF shots on that fox shot. It still was not as good as I would of liked it to be but I could work around it. The fox was frozen and ready to pounce for what seemed a very long time and when he jumped I might of over panned due to it startling me. Guess I was frozen with him ;)

Fantastic, JIM!
We saw a fox last evening too. Though it appeared sick and limping and actually approached the car when I stopped to watch it.
Hopefully not rabid....

Thanks Pax, the one leaping had a very bad case of mange on its right abdomin and upper rt hip. I had to disgard all rt side shots of it. At Bombay several of the foxes hunt the edge of the gravel roads. The stay on the move until they sense or hear something then they stop and pounce. You have to be careful at Bombay Hook as most of the foxes have no fear of humans. Many times I was near flat on the ground shooting from my ground pod and the foxes would come inside of my focus range coming directly at me. You never know what foxes, skunks, raccoons, or possums may have or do when they get close in.

Nice shooting, Jim.
Were there many birds flying in and around the hook. One of my favorite places to visit.

Thanks RD...... IMO the bird numbers were very low. They are supposed to have their count event Sat so we should see the real numbers but while I was there I saw less than the normally expected waterfowl there. Saw more hawks than normal and finally saw one of the eagles there from a long way off but just not the expected waterfowl pops.

Jim
Last week while hiking from Conowingo Dam to the bridge over Deer Creek I didn’t see one duck of any kind. Over the years I could always count on some waterfowl to hold my interest, but not this year so far. Could it be the weather has been to warm and they haven’t moved south yet?

Wayne, Something is slowing them up this year. Even the farm on rt9 opposite the Bombay Hook entrance road did not have a single snow goose in the fields. That field is usually loaded normally.
