I'm finally done re-rigging and re-powering a boat I bought several months ago. Now it's time to mount some rod holders.
I've used Driftmasters on my previous boat and they worked out well but the new boat has a slightly angled edge to the gunnel which is not ideal for Driftmasters. I've seen the Scotty Rod Holder and thought that might work well because it can be mounted to the inside of the gunnel and the angle is adjustable.
Any other suggestions for me to look into?

Here it is in it's PRE-RIGGED form.

Do you have room under the gunnel to mount some old school rod holders? The kind that are recessed?

Nice job! Great boat!! Looks to be an inshore machine. I could definitely use a rig like that up here on the James near Hopewell.

I would add two more hand rails toward the back and use Perko rail clamp holders like the one on your console. Not perminent holders,,,Ones that you do not drill in are the way to go. But not cheep mind you.

2 rails 100.00
six Perko's 145.00

It adds up quick.

No room to mount the old school rod holders. I like the handrail idea however I cannot get to the underside of the gunnel to tighten a nut like the front hand rails. That would have been ideal. Please if anyone has more suggestions bring 'em on.

Bert's rodholders, they rachet so the angle shouldn't hurt you.
What motor you using?

You can put a T in the back made out of pvc pipe or metal if you have room. Mine is made of heavy pvc pipe and the top cross member is made of 1/2" by 3" flat aluminum. Drill holes in cross member and thread them for 1/2" santee style rod holders. The way to get the angle is to slide the flat metal cross bar up or down on the pvc T to your liking. I have four on mine, you can add a couple on the sides of the boat of any kind to your liking. Good luck whatever you use.
ps I had a pedistal(sp?) seat hole to put my upright part of the T in, had to turn pvc down to fit. It's Also removable.

I'm one of those dummies that can't get a picture to load on the webb. I have HP share to the webb but I changed my e-mail address recently and it won't except new e-mail address. B-mail me and give me your mailing address and I send you a photo of it in the mail. Will that work?

I'm thinking I'll go with the Scotty Powerlock. They seem like a good product for the money.

If you know any pros or cons to this model please let me know.
Thanks

It ain't steel. A buddy's family has property in site of the toll bridge in Gloucester over the York River. They were striper fishing over the Thanksgiving weekend with non-steel components. Air temps were fairly cold when snap. They probably didn't set drags properly but none the less they lost rod-n-reel and the pivot point on down on the holder. Not sure of their brand but his brother went straight to the marine supply store that day and replaced with steel. I don't mean to sound negative but I thought I'd pass it on. Hope it works out for the best. Later for now---jonnycat

I just got my R-A-M Rod 2000 holders today for my Tarpon 120 sot kayak . They mount on the inside , side mount. The inside of the yak has about the same slope as your sides. they would probably work great and have about a 4 inch extension that gets them off the sides. BPS $21.00 W/ A LIFETIME WARRANTY.

Darren that sounds decent. Thanks. If you can, post a pic after you get it installed. I like the 4" extension also.

Freeflow I am going to the Tristate Flea market next weekend and there is always a guy there with tons of rails from all sorts of boats. I would bet he has a rail that would work for your application. I will keep my eyes peeled as I am looking for a rail for my jet boat.
