Went shad fishing on Friday for a few hours, caught 6 nice shad near 95 bridge. It should be right in a few days. Doug.

Went today with my son. Couldnt get a bite near the 95 bridge so settled down a little lower. Wore out 12 Sabiki rigs on Herring. Too many to count. Someone has pictures but I wont mention names.

We went Sunday afternoon around the 95 bridge and could only manage to catch a few as well. The only people I saw that seemed to be doing pretty good was a couple of guys I saw fly fishing. They seemed to have the right spot or the right fly because they seemed to be doing real well. I could see plenty of fish but they just didn't seem to be interested in gold spoons, silver spoons, or shad darts. The ones we did catch sure were fun on ultralights. I will give it another try later in the week. Anybody hear of any stripers being caught in that area yet?

Brad,
I tried for stripers up near the bridge. No luck at all. I have heard of some caught down by Presquille.

I was there Sunday flyfishing with a small green fly. Must have been in the right spot ,I caught close to 50 shad. I left them and went downriver and caught 10 cats, on cut bait up to 10lbs. Great day to be on the James River.

can you wade in the water near the 95 bridge. I will have a couple days off next week and would like to try my luck there. I am use to fishing fredericksburg but that is to far to travel.

You have to go above the 14th st bridge to find safe places to wade
