This is definitely a fun time of the year to fish. I took my old basketball coach out Wed. and we started near the city catching the heck out of herring. Stu has fished before but was happy to catch "any " kind of fish and on a regular basis. Then we got in to the white perch. We then set up for CATS and caught around 8 or 9 cats but the stripers were killing us ! Striperjoe complaining about stripers - go figure. They robbed my baits blind and so did the flatheads. Anyway we ended up with 5 stripers with the biggest being 16 pounds. Great fight also. Daddy also caught a 16 pounder a few days earlier and he was amazed at the fight. Long story short - the fish are there as long as you have the right equipment. Of course weekends are crazy "near" the city and NO you do not have to go past 3 bridges to get to the fish. Still not good at postin' pics of our catch, sorry. My only concern is that they BIG fish are full right now and maybe that's why we did not catch anything over 23 lbs. Who knows? Enjoy the weather, take your kids, wife, dad, next door neighbor and show all your fishin' skills. But most importantly remember - Nationwide is on your side..........cause Joe's got a boat payment. Jus kiddin' - Striperjoe layin' low[wink]
PS - My dad fished for croaker today in Uranna and nada so far ! Will keep saltwater guys informed. Later
