Got to the river very early tried to get to the point south of Fletchers, but could not get to "The Rock" and so could not cast and get a good drift. There were a couple of guys fishing in an aluminum skiff out in the current and they were doing OK but nothing special. Knew that with the high water the best shore spots were going to be north so I high-tailed it up to the bridge. Got there a bit after 6:30 am and it was smokin' from my first cast until 8:30 with a take every cast. Fish are average size, which make me think that the run is well underway as the bigger hickories are usually seem like the first to pass through. Does fit anyone else's observations? Fishing cooled off but remained decent and when I left at 10:30 they were still biting well but my arms were just too damn tired.

I tied on a different pattern everytime I lost a fly to the rocks and they took them all...no preferance today on color.

The T-14 shooting head I rigged up was absolutely perfect for the specific spots I was fishing, but is tough along the shore as it sinks like a stone and is apt to snag if you don't keep it moving. I was definitely dredging bottom and getting to where the fish are. Oh, and the mud shad are friggin' huge this year. I snagged a few real bruisers.

Sorry I missed you in the Fletchers area. Action was red hot there too from 9:30 to noon.
