I Hear about different types of flies, but since i am new to flyfishing I dont know much of the lingo. Hence i dont know what alot of people a re talking about. can anyone provide pictures of some various flies used in the potomac for example

The nice thing about shad is that nothing is written in stone. IMHO...it is the perfect fish to pursue if you are learning to cast or tie. You can be as creative as you want or as simple as you want. The one thing I would suggest for the potomac is a healthy supply of colors. Pink, white, red, chart, yellow are a good start.
