What is the best map source for looking up streams in western MD? Something that shows rivers, creeks, secondary roads and dirt or fire roads?

Ken,
On the DNR Fisheries website is the trout stocking schedule, just about every stream has an associated map that can be accessed by clicking on the stream name. Other than that I use the Maryland / Delaware Gazetteer to get around the County. The Larry Coburn / Charlie Gelso book on the special regulation trout streams in MD also has pretty good directions. You can pick up the book at BPS.
DNR I think in conjunction with the Garrettt Co. Chamber of Commerce has a tri-fold pamphlet on the trout fishing in Garrett Co. One side has a map of the entire County with the streams noted. I don't know if it is available on-line from DNR, but I have seen it in many information racks around the county.

Someone is getting sick of the bay and his name is Ken.
WCO has the Coburn/Gelso book. They have recently come out with a second edition too. It will be invaluable to you on your new quest buddy.

the best maps i have found for garrett and allegany counties are the State of Maryland, Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Geological Survey, Topographic Map of Garrett County (also one for Allegany County). These are not the same as the USGS Quads. Along with the Gelso book and the stocking maps, you can't go wrong.
