Tried my usual early season ES spot on Sunday. Ran 2400' of line twice in two different areas without a crab. I wanted to go home up the WS so I decided to give the Pax a try. Got there at 9:00 and laid 1200' of line. Ran it twice, not a crab. Talked to a few other crabbers who were in the area having the same luck.
Water temp on ES was 65 WS was 68.
Not looking good for Memorial day crabs.

That's disappointing news but thanks for letting us know. I had actually considered taking a drive across the bridge later this week to give it a try over there. Not now...
But if there not there for this weekend, hopefully it just means more for the 4th of July, right?
But it does make one wonder what it would be like if we had a summer without crabs. Try to imagine that!

Thanks for the report. I'm thinking that the deeper water where they will be coming from is taking a looooong time to warm up.
Hopefully it won't be too long before they slugishly move up into warmer, shollower water. Or course this fricking weather isn't helping. see ya

Got my anchor line wrapped a commercial pot on sunday (5/22) and pulled it up not realizing the float 75-100' away was connected to the pot. I was in 30' of water. The line must have come undone from the float, with that there 100'+/- line attached. I didn't think these guys crabbed in the channels.
Regardless, his pot was empty with pretty fresh looking bait in it.
