Headed to the beach this weekend with the family and will probably cruise down to Crisfield one day to look around. Anybody know of any sloughing houses that i might be able to stop by and get some softies? I've had plenty of hardshells the last 2 weeks, but i sure could eat a couple of softie sandwiches! Thanks and save me a couple of crabs in the pax until i get back! FJ

Jimmy- I was in Crisfield last weekend and personally consumed at least 6 HUGE soft crabs myself, unadulterated by anything but heat and butter. I hit the seafood and bait place just after the road to the park on the main drag into Crisfield, $2.50 each and they were 6"-7" and lively. I wish I was eatin' one right now!

Take a right at the liquor store (I think its 7th street), Marlene's bait and tackle is on the left a little ways down. Marlene or her mom will gladly sell you nice softies for eating, or smaller softies/peelers for bait. They are great folks in there, I have been buying from them for 25 years. I was there about 3 weeks ago and got a load of softies for bait and eating, and also got a really nice T-shirt with a crab on the back.

Thanks guys, that's exactly what I was looking for and i can't wait! I think we're gonna crab the pax on thursday to get plenty of meat picked out to have some dip/cakes/imperial while we're down there too. I like to relax on vacation and not worry too much with cooking, but it's hard to settle after you've tasted the best! [tongue] FJ

I don't do a lot of cookin' on the softies, just clean 'em and throw 'em in a hot fryin' pan with a couple spoonfuls of butter, from kickin' to lickin' in under 10 mins[grin] Juice all down the front of the shirt, sacrifices must be made[wink]

I might be in OC on Monday and Tuesday of next week on Business. I'll give you a holler if I make it.

Rod, that sounds good and i'll be hanging out looking for something to get into. We rent a friend's house 12th and bayside and it's a really nice place to hang out and have lots of cold ones. FJ

Stop on down Jerry. We'll need fresh crabs by the middle of next week! I'm spoiled on pax crabs, but i'm not against trying some from the c-tank if you want to keep your fuel cost down. [grin]
