...68/69 Carries most of the recreational traffic. 16 is for hailing and distress which is monitored by the Coast Guard and NRP as well as local authorities with marine units. Aberdeen monitors and send out broadcasts on 16, but uses 68 to commincate with crabbers and fisherman in the area of the Gunpowder and Bush rivers incase the area needs to be cleared. Tow boats/boatUS monitors 16 as well as most marina set up for gas or transient dockage. 13 is usually shipping traffic......It's interesting to listen to ships come and go and communicate with the ports. Emergencies and emergency Marine broadcast go over on 22A by the coast guard, but they'll let you know on 16 before they switch up. 88a is what most commercial fisherman use, but rarely has any traffic. I scan and listen to all of it. Ch.9 is a good channel to do a radio checks....but if there is no traffic...68/69.
