Joe,
Try a search on thios board for a lot info. on this subject I t's been discussed numerous times. I personally don't have any experience with them, but you'll find some strong votes against them in your search and a few who claim they are OK for a weekend warrior on a budget. Here's a link to one of the more recent threads:

JOE I WOULD NOT GO THAT ROUTE. WE HAVE 5 OF EM GETTING FIXED RIGHT NOW. ALL WITH DRAG, CLICKER, RETRIEVE PROBLEMS. THE FUNNY PART IS WHEN I CALLED OKUMA AND TOLD THEM OF THE POBLEM THEY SAID THEY WERE SHOCKED BY THAT AND HAD NEVER HEARD OF THOSE PROBLEMS. WICH WAS BS SO I TOLD HIM THEY MIGHT WANT TO LOOK AROUND THE INTERNET AND SEE WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THIER REELS BECAUSE IT AINT GOOD. HE DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE AT ALL.
GO WITH TLD IF YOU WANT A GOOD REEL THAT STANDS BEHIND THIER STUFF AND ACTUALLY CARES. PLUS YOUR NOT SAVING BUT A COUPLE DOLLARS ON OKUMA AND THEY SUCK. LOL
EMAIL ME AND I CAN HOOK YOU UP WITH SOME.

Joe,
I don't have any experience with the bigger ones, but here is my $.02.
My wife bought some of their smaller reels as a present and there were problems right out of the box, IE drags-so I took them back immediately. Sounds like they have a serious quality control problem with their entire product range.

Get Penn Senators if $$ is an issue. DO NOT BUY THE OKUMAS !!! Have seen them fail in person on big fish. It's not worth the money to have it ruin a day due to failure... not to mention we almost had a real bad incident when screws backed out of a reel clamp while underway and a 50 came crashing to the deck barely missing the crews head !!!!
My big pet peave is that screws back out very frequently !
JUNK !!!! TDL if you have the money, Senators if you don't.

I must agree I have owned one Okuma and I gave it away. Go with Penn or Shimano models that are within your budget.

Their offshore graphite models have had their share of problems.
You'd be better off with a TLD25. Back it with braid if you feel you need more capacity.

Had two of them and tried to make it work. They are with out a doubt the most useless reels on the market.. They fall apart, screws back out, drags hang up, on their best day they were junk. I actually didn't think you could make a reel that cheap....there still may be two in the shed out back if your interested. I could probably make you a real good deal on them. They have only been offshore maybe twice.....What a joke, save your money....

You guys with the OKUMA problems... are you talking about the graphite version or the TITUS GOLD? I hope the problems you are having is not with the TITUS... just bought 2 50's at about $380 each.
