Sorry about being so late. Just got back into town.
Took my boat (22 foot kencraft) down to Atlantic Beach for the seasons first trip offshore (Thurs 3/31/05)
Weather was calling for good seas. Set out for the big rock. Waves 3-4 and getting a little snotty. After about an hour of running, I find out why they call the rod holders Rocket Launchers, because they can shoot your rods over the side. Yep, one TLD30 in the drink. Never have I lost a rod over, but there is a first for everything.
Back to the fishing. About 5 miles from the Big Rock, I have had enough of an ass pounding, and drop the lines in. After getting all lines in, 3 rods go off, lose the first two but get the last one in the boat. A nice little 22 # Wahoo.
Reset all baits and after 20 min the right flat line goes off, another 25 pound Wahoo in the box. Reset and same rod goes off, and it is screaming after 25 min fight, a 59 pound, 67 inch Wahoo goes half-way in the box. (He was huge)
Reset again, and the same rod goes off, however this time a nice 27 pound yellow fin with one eye, goes in the box. Yes, this fish had only one eye. The eye socket was empty.
Anyway, 3 Wahoo’s and one yellow fin is not a bad day offshore for me. Just wish I didn't lose that rod and reel and wish the weather man could get it right just once. I have pictures to post, but I haven’t done it in a while. Please tell me how to post pictures and I will.
Tight lines.
