Nothing to report but a skunk. Fished alongside Capt Fred started @ rockpile break went from 54 to 69/70.5 very quickly looked awesome expcept no marks or bait no life at all. All the charters were complaining no one really did anything ,but then again I picked up at noon and said the hell with it tryed everything. OOOH well hope you guys do better its shaping up to be pretty out there so maybe the bite will be better tom. Catchem up

Sorry to hear of the skunk Taz... At least you went and tried...
How far north did you venture from the rockpile?

Maybe the bite would have turned on in the afternoon Taz. Oh well, ya gave it a shot anyway. Still wish I could have been there, even with the skunk in the box.
Get'em next time man!

Well, so much for going south from HI tomorrow. How 'bout the guys who fished north, maybe at the break near the 280 Rocks? Anybody hear any reports from up that way?

Thanks for posting. There's as much or more to learn from the less than stellar reports as there is from the hot ones. Remember, a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work

It was Dead.
8 charter boats fished, 4 of them never had a bite. we got lucky and hung a triple only to pull hooks on two.
Picked up today water shaping up nicely, we caught limit of kings, two yellowfins and our first Blue Marlin of the year, a 350 pounder that jumped her butt off!

Dag gone Jay thats a nice report I was just north east of the rockpile, it was just so sloppy outside of the break we kinda stayed inside and hung around there got discouraged decided to head to the barn early..Maybe if we'd have waited it out it would have turned on just couldnt find any signs of life, other than a big turtle in 54 degree water 9 miles off the beach . I didnt think they liked that cold of water..ooohwell just a matter of time.my log book says the past 3 years on tax day or near there I have limited out on tunas at Hi .

Don't like these kinda reports but that's fishing. If the day in/day out guys weren't on them they just weren't there.

We fried up some fresh caught skunk last night too. Started at the Rockpile and trolled northeast along the temp break - nothing all day! It took almost 15 minutes to get the Merc started.....we should have taken that as a sign.
