Since most of the reports I see on here come from up north, I'll add one down from my neck of the woods.

Since the blow from last week ended, the Big Rock has been hot. Boats have forgone running so far south and are back on their home court. I can't speak for the Morehead fleet, but boats on Atlantic Beach have been doing good. Talked with a couple guys today at the Capt. Stacy Fishing Center and the bite yesterday was fair. The boat I was talking to got 12 tunas on Wednesday. I saw another boat unload this afternoon (4/21) and counted 14 tunas and a dolphin. I've also heard a few reports of early billfish.

How far offshore? Any water temps reported?

Well as I said, the area was the Big Rock which is in the mid-40 mile range from Beaufort. Earlier in the week there was a 20+ degree break between the 90' and the Rock. Low 50s on the cool side and mid to upper 70s on the warm side. The warmer water was right on the Big Rock according to my map.

As of today, the warm water has been pushed back offshore and any tuna fishing will have to be down from the Swansboro Hole & south. I probably won't get any charter reports as most of my friends don't go that far on a charter trip.

Cape, any report from your neck of the woods, gets my attention. Keep'em coming, I might get a break and go soon.
Thanks, Jim
