I fished the MSSA Tournament with Goldman, HD232 and another buddy (not sure if he is on the board) we had a great 3 days although the fish didn't cooperate as we would have liked. I fish many tournaments in the ocean and the general tactic is that we are fishing for one fish not many fish so here is my question. You troll all day looking for that one fish and and you finally start getting into the fish and having fun but they are not the right size fish. Do you abandon the bite and continue your seach for that one fish or do you enjoy the bite of smaller fish and hope their is a big one mixed in. This is a big delemma in offshore tournaments. What is your opinion?

BTW - Goldman is one fishing fool - I have not fished with many folks who fish as intense and tactically percise as he does. He put together a crew of dedicated fisherman and I enjoyed this tournament. He kept the mood fun even while the bite slacked off and would fish with him again any time. He will also be on my team this year in the OC tournments.

Lets here your Tournament tactics?

Are you talking rockfish tourney or offshore tourney, totally different !

Rockfish: Stay with the bite, all sizes all over !

Tuna: Same size fish usually swim together, might consider moving if you have knowledge of another bite.

Marlin: Stay with the bite, hope for the mother load !

Of course, this comes from someone who has had it with tourneys, always seems to be rough and not as much fun as just going out there and having fun !

You just got some very valuable information. It depends on the species you are searching for. Some fish school together based on size & some school no matter the size. Learn which is which & whether or not to switch.

I fish tournaments and agree with what "pat n mike" said very true about the fish.... but with marlin if there are fish there, theres your points for the leaderboard.
