Fished aboard Teaser on Friday. Started inshore of the Lumps looking for a temperature break. Got a small bluefin and released another early. Went into the Washington looking for better temperatures. Started on the north wall and trolled to the south. Released a couple more bluefin and found some good looking weedlines but no yellowfins. Came back to the north in the afternoon and found half the OC fleet. It wasn't too long before we had a triple header of 20-30lb yellowfin. Worked the area the rest of the day and ended up with a total of 8 yellowfins and a bluefin for the day. We had 2 triple-headers and 1 double header -- put them all in the box!
There weren't many Wachapreague boats with us. Most of them had run to 26 Mile Hill to get in on the bluefin/king mackerel action. From what I heard most had released small bluefins into the double digits by midday. A couple of dolphin were scattered around. I saw two dolphin flags flying when I left. I think one came from the Washington, but don't know about the other. If the yellowfin get as thick as the bluefin, it should make for some fun fishing.
