Well the trip is over and now all that remains are some great memories, a few cuts and scrapes, and the clean up.
Fishing started slow due to that amount of wind that we had last Saturday. When we went out Sunday the bite was scattered and no weed lines to really even talk about. Found a tree in the water and it saved the day as we pulled about 9 gaffer/bailers off of it.
Fishing the next few days was slow as I aired on the side of caution with a green crew and did not travel out to the deep. Its hard to run a boat and the rods at the same time. SO we did manage to pick up a few mahi inshore near the diamond shoals tower, and the king amckeral bite was good around that area as well.
Endo of the week started producing fish again. Steady action all day on thursday. Got my frind Rob on the boat to help me out and soon it was bending rod time in the deep. Good showing of dolphin that day, with good quality fish. Flat day, and you could see the fish come in from 100yds out to hit the bait.
Blue and white witches were the trick that day, with a few bites on red and white.
Finished out th week looking for the cobia, and some more mackeral fishing as we only had time for a half day trip. PUt a few fish in the boat, but no bragging rights that day. Winds blew up and it was coaster time. Everyone had a nice bath on the way back to the inlet that day. Not really big waves, but frequency was about 1.5, and big drops offs on the back side. Glad to own a Cat that day.
I need to pass on a special thanks to Tom Kidwell, Tommy Tuna, jimmyk and Lucian for the help on the SST's and general knowledge stuff while I was done there. Hope I did not wear out the welcome with all the calls. A special thanks to my ole friend Mark Komonda who put me on track for the fish at the end of the week, and allowed us to finish out on a high note. Great crew the whole week, Rob on the Reel Escape had my back for the weather reports, thanks Rob.
Probably the best thing that came out of the week is I think I found a name for my boat. Let me know what you think.
